To submit a picture of your fischer lovebird click here

Scientific Name: Agapornis personata fischeri

Origin: Africa and nearby islands

Size: 5 to 6 ½ inches

Life Span:

Temperament:They are playful, entergetic, and loving. They love their toys. They are not the best talkers though. If handled as a chick they bond easily with their owners. If they are single and not handled they must have a mate, fischers mate for life. Some cannot go on or go on happy without a companion. They are mechanically intelligent and will figure out how to open their cage doors and escape.

About: The fischer is attractive, playful, and very lovable. There are also many mutations.

Diet: a good parrot/cockatiel seed mix without many sunflower seeds, also fruits and vegetables and some enjoy a little meat now and then.

Male or Female: A blood test is the only way if you really want to know.

Breeding: Hens lay 3 to 6 eggs, incubation lasts for 20 to 26 days.
