Roman Utility Molosser Club of America - Code of Ethics

This Code of Ethics is intended to serve as a guide that all members of the Roman Utility Molosser Club of America should follow. It exemplifies our role as guardians of the breed, having a common interest in the protection and well-being of the breed and of the individual dogs that our members own and our breeders produce.

As a member of the Roman Utility Molosser Club of America:

I will comply with the Constitution and By-Laws of this organization and this Code of Ethics.

I will act in a professional manner when representing the Roman Utility Molosser AKA Roman Rottweiler breed to the public.

I will familiarize myself with the rules of sanctioning bodies of events in which I participate and honor those rules. I will bring any concerns or issues to the attention of the appropriate official of these sanctioning bodies in a professional manner.

I will refer questions that I can not answer to an RUMCA board member/officer or in the case of recognized Roman Utility Molosser AKA Roman Rottweiler registries, a designated registry personal.

I will not make false statements against any Roman Utility Molosser AKA Roman Rottweiler registry, organization, breeder, or dogs in a public or private forum.

I will act in a good sportsman-like manner at all dog related events.

I will exhibit or trial only well groomed dogs in healthy condition.

I will be sure to have water and proper crating/pens to keep my dog(s) confined. If it is hot I will be sure to provide a shaded area for my dogs.

I acknowledge that I am responsible for the health, happiness, and well-being of all dogs in my care, and I take that responsibility seriously. I will treat my dogs humanely and provide them with high quality food, clean water, weather appropriate shelter, veterinary care, exercise, grooming, socialization and training.

I will participate in efforts to assess and improve the health of the Roman Utility Molosser AKA Roman Rottweiler breed, including participation in valid, reliable and responsible testing for hereditary diseases and will share health information with other RUMCA members/breeders.

I will be honest in any written or spoken statements about my dog

As a breeder in the Roman Utility Molosser Club of America:

I will become familiar with the Roman Utility Molosser AKA Roman Rottweiler Breed Standard and breed only the best possible specimens in accordance to that standard.

I will strive to participate in such events as conformation shows, herding trials, obedience trials, protection trials, Schutzhund trials, and any other events that would validate the physical, mental soundness & versitility of my breeding Roman Utility Molossi AKA Roman Rottweilers.

I will represent my dogs and their progeny honestly.

I will keep records of my progeny, and encourage puppy buyers to get involved in events with their Roman Utility Molosser AKA Roman Rottweiler.

I will participate in better breeding methods such as doing early neurological stimulation with puppies to improve working ability & health, providing my dogs with a high quality diet & supplements both for body & joints, imprinting good drives in puppies, and try to keep current with new ideas for breeding better dogs.

I will sell my puppies under a contract that has a section in it that protects the welfair of the puppy as well as provide some kind of health guarantee for the pup. And I will always take my progeny back if the puppy buyer cannot take care of the dog anymore, and I will keep that dog or place him/her in another loving home. I will not allow my progeny to end up in a shelter or rescue, for I am responsible for my progeny.

I will do my best to screen potential puppy buyers and only provide them to persons whom will treat them humanely and provide them with high quality food, clean water, weather appropriate shelter, veterinary care, exercise, grooming, socialization and training.

I will not donate, give, sell or consign puppies to pet shops, auctions, raffles, or other such activities.

I will not donate, give, sell or consign puppies to any person whose intention (either known or suspected) is to resell or use the puppy/dog in a breeding program that does not comply with this Code of Ethics.
